Clash Royale developers are completely rebuilding how you level up your collection, your King Tower, and earn rewards. The old XP and King’s Journey system is gone. In its place: transparent Collection Levels and heavily simplified Card Mastery. Here’s everything we know so far - no fluff, no copy-paste, just the facts, numbers, and what it means for you.
Why the change?
The devs admitted progression became too complex and confusing. King’s Journey didn’t clearly show how fast you were moving. XP varied by card rarity, major rewards felt random, and chests often gave cards you didn’t need. The further you progressed, the slower it felt.
Goal of the update: Make progression simple, clear, and rewarding. Every upgrade should matter. Every card in your collection should contribute. You should always know how close you are to the next big reward.
What’s being removed completely
• King’s Journey - gone. Any unclaimed rewards will be automatically given via a pop‑up when you log in after the update.
• XP (experience points) - removed from the game. No more XP from card upgrades, Mastery rewards, or clan donations.
• Old King Tower requirements tied to XP - also gone.
What stays:
Star Points and Star Levels - untouched. Everything remains where it is.
The new system: Collection Levels
It’s simple. Your Collection Level = sum of all your card levels + bonus points for Evolutions and Heroes. Formula:
Collection Level = (level of card 1 + level of card 2 + … + level of card 125) + (5 × number of Evolutions) + (5 × number of Heroes)
Examples:
• Unlocking Valkyrie (common) → +3 Collection Levels
• Upgrading Valkyrie from level 11 to 12 → +1 Level
• Unlocking Valkyrie Evolution → +5 Levels
• Unlocking a Legendary card gives more at first (depends on rarity), but every single upgrade after that - any card, any rarity - always gives +1 Level.
There are currently 125 cards, plus Evolutions and Heroes. Everything counts.
How do rewards work?
• First reward at Collection Level 20
• Then every 10 levels (30, 40, 50…)
• After reaching Level 1500, rewards come every 5 levels
• Why? The closer you are to a maxed collection, the more often you get rewards - this encourages upgrading even cards you don’t use.
Total rewards from all Collection Levels (combined):

Celebration rewards for the transition
When you log in after the update, the system checks your Collection Level and gives you a bonus. No extra steps.

The Tower Skin is only for players with Collection Level above 2000.
Important: The new system benefits early- and mid-game players the most - smoother progression, more rewards. But top players also get nice bonuses (up to 5,000 gems just for logging in).
How King Tower Level works now
Previously you leveled up your King Tower with XP. Now it’s based on how many cards you have upgraded to a certain level.

Note: Tower Troops do NOT count toward these requirements. When your King Tower levels up, you automatically get enough Tower Princess cards and Gold to upgrade it to the new level.
Your King Tower Level will never go down - only stay the same or increase.
Card Mastery Rework (huge simplification)
Tasks are now significantly easier across the board. Example: Hog Rider

If you’re mid‑task and already reached the new requirement when the update hits - the task auto‑completes and you get the reward. Otherwise your progress is saved.
What about Mastery rewards?
Before the update, Masteries gave cards, Gold, Gems, and Wild Cards.
After the update: Gold only - but each task gives more Gold.

Gems and Wild Cards have moved to Collection Level milestones.
Why? Masteries now become a steady source of Gold to upgrade cards → higher Collection Level → more Gems and Wild Cards from milestones. It’s all connected into a single, clear loop.
Old vs New - total reward distribution comparison

Old System = Old Mastery + King’s Journey
New System = New Mastery + Collection Levels
Bottom line: Targeted resources (Wild Cards, Gems, Gold, Shards) all increased. Random card drops (especially Epic+) decreased - that’s the trade‑off for giving you more control over your progression.
Feature unlocks now tied to Arena, not King Level

This means new players get key features much earlier.

What else is coming (July 2026)
• A brand new card
• Return of C.H.A.O.S Mode
Final analysis: Who benefits most?
1. New and mid‑game players - biggest winners. Faster feature unlocks (clans, Pass Royale), much easier Mastery tasks, early rewards from Collection Levels.
2. Collectors and donors - every card now matters. Upgrading even unused cards raises your Collection Level and unlocks more rewards.
3. Top players with near‑max collections - get the biggest celebration rewards (up to 5,000 gems + tower skin). But random card drops decrease - you’ll rely more on Wild Cards.
4. Developers - simpler metrics, clearer progression loop, no more confusing XP.
