ABOUT AMAWAK

AMAWAK is a French content creator who has dedicated over ten years to Boom Beach. His journey began by chance: after seeing the game at a colleague’s, he was instantly hooked. Later, when the last major French-language blogger left, he decided to fill the void. Since 2016, he has been regularly releasing videos, becoming one of the community’s leading voices.

In his work, AMAWAK values Boom Beach’s strategic depth and isn’t afraid to experiment: he explores unconventional formats, creates narrative-driven videos, and engages viewers in live events. He is distinguished by his desire to break away from conventions and offer something new while maintaining respect for the original universe.

Over the years, he has heard numerous conversations about the game’s “death,” but he personally sees that Boom Beach continues to evolve, receives updates, and maintains a loyal audience. For AMAWAK, the game isn’t just a strategy game, but a vibrant community with whom he has shared his passion for many years.

INTERVIEW

Q: AMAWAK, hello! Tell us a little about yourself: how did you discover Boom Beach and how long have you been creating content about this game?

AMAWAK: I discovered Boom Beach thanks to a colleague. We were waiting in line for an attraction at Futuroscope when he showed me the game on his phone. I was hooked immediately! I’ll always remember my friends’ comments when they saw us playing: “My God, I created a monster!”.

Regarding my YouTube channel, I started creating content after the departure of the last major French-speaking creator at the time, LETOMIBOY. I published my first video on January 24, 2016, and since then, I’ve regularly shared content dedicated to Boom Beach. I’ve now been sharing this adventure on YouTube with the community for over 10 years.

Q: When did you realize you wanted to create content about Boom Beach?

AMAWAK: To be honest, it happened quite naturally. At the time, the French-speaking Boom Beach community was very active and included several content creators. When LETOMIBOY stopped, I felt like an era was ending and that a voice was missing to keep the game alive for French-speaking players.

I already enjoyed sharing my strategies, discussing updates, and interacting with the community. So, I decided to take the plunge and publish my first videos. Initially, I didn’t think this adventure would last this long, but one video led to another, and then another. More than ten years later, I continue to share my passion for Boom Beach and support the community through the game’s evolution.

Q: What attracted you to Boom Beach? Is it simply that you enjoy games of this type, or is there something special about Boom Beach that appeals to you?

AMAWAK: What attracted me to Boom Beach was primarily its strategic aspect. Unlike many games where brute force is enough, Boom Beach requires you to think, adapt your attacks, and make the most of your available troops.

But what truly makes it unique in my eyes is the balance between strategy, progression, and creativity. There are often several ways to approach the same base, and I’ve always enjoyed finding original solutions or pushing the boundaries of the game.

Over the years, it’s not just the game itself that has kept me playing, but also its community. I’ve met some amazing players, forged friendships, and experienced many memorable moments thanks to Boom Beach. It’s probably this combination of the game itself and the people around it that explains why I’m still here after more than ten years.

Q: Supercell has a game with a similar game to Boom Beach - Clash of Clans, where you attack other bases and develop your own. What do you think of it? If you haven’t played it, why not?

AMAWAK: Clash of Clans is a beautiful and incredibly rich game in every aspect. It boasts a huge community, a wide variety of challenges, a robust competitive mode, a significant esports scene, and regularly receives major updates. It’s clearly a heavyweight in the mobile gaming world.

I play it regularly and have even created content about it. However, since my channel is primarily dedicated to Boom Beach, I prefer to limit these types of videos to avoid disrupting the YouTube algorithm and to remain consistent with my community’s expectations.

I really enjoy Clash of Clans, but Boom Beach remains the game I’m most passionate about and to which I’ve chosen to dedicate the majority of my content for over ten years.

Q: What do you think sets you apart from other content creators on Boom Beach?

AMAWAK: Well, I’m from Brittany, so that already makes a big difference!

More seriously, I think what sets me apart is my willingness to take risks with the content I create. I like to explore ideas that are a little out of the ordinary. For example, I created a narrative series inspired by the Boom Beach universe, two chapters of which are already available. People may or may not like it, but I fully embrace this creative approach.

I’m also working on original projects, like a special Mega Crab music playlist scheduled for June 18th, with illustrations entirely generated by artificial intelligence while remaining true to the Boom Beach universe.

Another thing that sets me apart is that I continue to organize community Battles. In fact, a new 6 vs. 6 Battle is planned for June 19th. I like to involve the community and offer events that are outside the usual format.

Finally, I have my own sense of humor and my own way of approaching the game. I don’t like doing exactly the same thing as everyone else. I like to experiment, try new ideas, and take paths that few creators have explored before, while remaining respectful of the universe created by Supercell.

Q: What can you tell us about Warships? Is there a particular season that stands out for you?

AMAWAK: Yes, one season stands out for me: the one where I finally earned the Top 500 trophy. It was during the season before a reset, and believe me, the tension was palpable!

I was constantly checking my ranking, sometimes even secretly during work hours. After so much effort, achieving that Top 500 was incredibly satisfying. If I remember correctly, it was season 60.

Q: What is your best achievement in Boom Beach?

AMAWAK: I think my greatest achievement remains reaching the Top 500 trophy in Warships. The competition is extremely fierce, and you have to maintain a high level of performance throughout an entire season.

I’m also very proud of my YouTube channel. After more than ten years and over 2,100 videos dedicated to Boom Beach, having managed to build and maintain a loyal community is an accomplishment I’m very grateful for.

Q: Very recently, new sneak peeks have been released showcasing the new Garrison building and the new Level 29 HQ. What are your thoughts on these new features?

AMAWAK: To be honest, I’m a Trusted Creator and therefore don’t have access to the dev builds. However, I did receive the patch notes, which I translated and shared with my community. I also rely on videos from my colleagues to supplement my analysis. I know it sounds a bit amateurish, but that’s part of the passion!

Regarding the new features, I think HQ 29 is excellent news. After more than ten years, seeing a new HQ level shows that Boom Beach continues to evolve. As for the Garrison, it’s probably the addition that intrigues me the most. I can’t wait to see what players will be able to do with this new building.

😱 Boom Beach: HQ 29 is finally here! Live discovery!

Q: Troop Mania is also getting a major change: it will now be possible to use troops that haven’t been unlocked yet, but with reduced stats. How might this change affect the overall meta?

AMAWAK: I think it’s a great idea, especially for new players. Until now, some events were less interesting when you didn’t yet have all the necessary troops.
Being able to use troops that haven’t been unlocked, even with reduced stats, will allow more players to experiment with different strategies. This should make Troop Mania more accessible and more fun. As for the meta, we’ll have to wait a few weeks to see the real impact, but on paper, this change seems to be a step in the right direction.

Q: AMAWAK, I’ve been part of the Boom Beach community since October 2024, and during all that time I’ve heard numerous comments from various players claiming that Boom Beach is a dying game, a carbon copy of Clash of Clans, and that it has no future. As an active player, I completely disagree with these opinions. You, as a creator on this game for many years, how would you prove to everyone that these comments are wrong?

AMAWAK: It’s quite simple: I’ve been playing it for over ten years. For a game that some regularly declare “dying,” I think it’s doing rather well!

Over the years, I’ve seen many predictions announcing its imminent demise. Yet, Boom Beach continues to receive updates, new content, and maintains a loyal and passionate community.

I’ve even seen some creators claim that the game is in decline. Each time, the players themselves have proven the opposite through their commitment and enthusiasm. In my opinion, a game that continues to evolve after more than ten years and keeps its community together is far from being a game without a future.

Q: As one of the most prominent members of the French-speaking community for the game, what are your thoughts on it?

AMAWAK: First and foremost, I would say that Boom Beach is far from dead. On the contrary, the game seems to be on the cusp of major changes with the many new features currently being released.

It also benefits from a strong and loyal community. Even after all these years, many players continue to support the game, share their strategies, and keep the community alive every day. This loyalty is undoubtedly one of Boom Beach’s greatest strengths.

Q: In your opinion, what is currently missing from the game? If you were a developer, what changes would you make to improve it?

AMAWAK: If I were a developer, I would first add a tool to easily organize battles between players. This wouldn’t impact game progression, but it would allow the community to compete for free and create more events. Who knows, it might even open the door to a form of esports in the future.

I would also like to see an open-world exploration mode. Aboard their ship, players could set sail north, south, east, or west beyond the current map to discover new territories, confront the Black Guard, and uncover mysteries. The more ambitious the journey, the more you would need to upgrade your ship using resources already available in the game. This is an idea inspired by certain exploration games, but adapted to the world of Boom Beach. I could particularly see this type of content on the PC version of the game.

Q: As a veteran player, can you tell us about the game’s community in general - how often do the developers listen to their audience, and is the community toxic?

AMAWAK: As a veteran player, I would say that the community is less toxic than it used to be. Social media is better managed, there are more guides and tutorials, and new players find answers to their questions more easily.

Personally, I don’t hesitate to repeat certain explanations because I know that new players join the game every day.

Regarding the developers listening, it’s harder to assess. Only the Community Managers have a comprehensive view of all the feedback they receive. But from what I observe, many comments and suggestions are taken into account. So, the frequency of listening seems quite high to me.

Q: What advice would you give to aspiring Boom Beach creators who want to get noticed? Where should they start?

AMAWAK: I would first advise new creators to join social media and dedicated Boom Beach communities. It’s essential to stay informed, observe, take notes, and understand the game’s language, because after more than ten years, the community has developed its own codes and references.

I won’t deny that becoming a Boom Beach creator is a real challenge these days. I’ve seen young creators start with a lot of potential but then give up due to lack of time or motivation.
My main advice would therefore be to be passionate, motivated, and persistent. Results don’t come overnight, but with consistency and patience, it’s always possible to find your place in the community.

Q: To conclude this interview: what are your upcoming content plans? Do you plan to bring anything new to your content?

AMAWAK: My main projects are to continue developing the Boom Beach Story and the themed playlists I recently started. I enjoy exploring more creative formats while staying true to the game’s universe.

And the adventure is far from over! Supercell has already announced the arrival of HQ 30, which means there are many more new features to come. As long as Boom Beach continues to evolve, I’ll have plenty of content to create and share this passion with the community.
